Terrible Jilly. Haven't updated much.

So here is an article about War on Wheels.

In December Jilly sang with Jazz Kitchen at PPL Shipyard, acted as the well-manicured Lush for an event for the Marina Bay Sands, and also emcee'd for Estee Lauder Companies and Kotex under Kimberly-Clark.

Been busy teaching drama every morning, and singing every night. Yawn. Blogging abt the music on zjil.blogspot.com and planning a show called "Stand Up And Sing" featuring all original songs and the stories behind them.

Apologies for the delay. But still, she appreciates that you stay tuned... Thank you!

Busy November! 12/09/2009

Now Jilly apologises for not updating in November. Here's why:

War On Wheels - Enjoyable and experiential. A big thank you to all participants, fellow actors, director, teams at Motion and National Heritage Board. Read a review from Mayo Martin here!

Heat UltraLounge - Jilly sang as Adi played at this ultra cool lounge in Royal Plaza on Scotts.

Filming "The Pupil" - Jilly guested on Tan Ah Ling for a new MediaCorp drama starring Adrian Pang and Rebecca Lim. Watch for it!

Poetry Slam - Teaching kids poetry is one thing but inspiring them to perform poetry slam is quite a thrill. Jilly now toots her own horn by telling you that her Tech Whye kids gave an amazing show at the finals! (In the canteen. Totally gutsy.)

Screening of "Cashless" - Playing a disgruntled bank teller, Jilly showcases her character's sarcasm quite effectively and may never be able to land a real job in a real bank.

Also it was Jilly's birthday on the 11th and so many friends sent their well wishes to her via facebook. Some came to a couple of her last minute dinners. Many thanks to all of them. :-)

Did you see her at any of these events? If so, say hi here!

Jilly's August 26th this year was a brilliant one because of the National Day Parade 2009 Appreciation Function, where Jilly and the affable Jonny were the masters of ceremonies (each also known as emcee) from Talent House Studios. She was very fortunate to work with the talented Jonny who was the emcee for the NDP roadshows, which meant he was well informed and confident on stage.

Everyone involved worked really hard to make the evening a great success, but it's clear to see that it is the heart and soul of the AFC Ceremony Committee. It's great how they still motivated everyone in enjoying the entire process while doing their jobs well.

Special mentions go out to the meticulous 1st Warrant Officer Sabapathy R. (simply known as Saba) and the ever smiling Staff Sergeant Adrian Yap (affectionately known as Yappy).

Jilly sends her big thanks to everyone working behind the scenes, especially Saba, Yappy, Jonny, and Faizal (who skillfully played the Guzheng with her singing "Fly Me To The Moon" at the end, just for kicks) and the many contributors and guests who made the Parade and event astounding. That includes Sara from Talent House Studios, without whom the emcees would not have participated in this part of the nation's celebrations.

THANK  YOU  ALL !

Aloha! 08/30/2009

An August highlight for Jilly was a Dinner & Dance for the Singapore Navy's RSS Endurance. She was happy to be emceeing on this lovely Hawaii themed night!

And with great dancers, countless yam-sengs, and an amazing train of limbo rockers, the spontaneous festivities and infectious energy would definitely put any beach party to shame.

So Jilly thanks everyone from RSS Endurance, especially MSG Ivan Toh, MSG Meili and the rest of the enthusiastic event committee, for making that night such a memorable one at Jurong Safra! And of course thanks for letting her share in the joy.

As National Day in Singapore rolls around, Jilly is emcee-ing at a few events with that theme in mind. One such event is an ORD dinner (sure, email her and she'll explain what it means) and another is a National Day partners appreciation dinner. Jilly loves appreciating the history of any place, especially home.

Besides that, she has been gladly teaching poetry and drama with fellow actors at Raffles Girls Primary School and Innova Primary. She is so lucky because all the kids are so creative and quick-witted. How lovely! :-)

Finally, Jilly has a quiet month. Of course she prefers to have more work, but it isn't all bad. Now she can work on updating her videos. In fact she just edited and uploaded one! A live performance of "L-O-V-E. Check it out at her music page or on her youtube channel.

She has been tardy in keeping track of her TV work so may not be uploading some of her more recent appearances. If anyone has a copy of "Perfect Cut" (channel U, season 2, episode 9), "My Sassy Neighbour" (channel 5, season 3, episode 6), any episode of "Bertha's Nest" and "Da Chellam!", you're welcome to help her out. She knows she needs it. :-)

Another noteworthy update is on her IMDb page. She has 4 new credits.

- as Susan Ho in "Cashless" (Singapore, trailer)
- as Bee Geok in "Sayang Sayang" (Singapore, channel 5 series)
- as Mei-li Wu in "The Black Rabbit" (USA, trailer, clip 4)
- and her first screenwriting credit for "The Black Rabbit" (USA)

Thanks so much to "The Black Rabbit" writer/director/actor (and more) Eric Dapkewicz and Mako Pictures for giving Jilly that screenwriting credit! Sometimes she wonders why... He really was the brains behind everything. Buy the DVD here.

After clarifying and understanding how the concert isn't contradicting the cause, Jilly emcee'd and sang at Earth Hour on March 28th 2009. It was such a wonderful experience and it was such a privilege to share the stage with so many wonderful performers that evening.

She was also very happy to share two of her original songs for the event.

The musicians for "If I Were Human" were not able to make the event so Jilly referred to them affectionately as her invisible band on stage. Big thanks to Eric, Benson and Erik for the minus one track! Don't forget to check out their website here.

The guitarist for "Shelter" was the affable Thomas Wu who has his own band, Leeson. Visit their website here.

This is the third time "If I Were Human" was performed, following its humble Substation premiere and its integration with Wisdom of Monkeys for their play "Ex-ceptance". It's about human life from an alien's point of view. Here are the lyrics.

"Shelter" was an idea loitering about in her head before Jilly really got down to writing a special song for Earth Hour. When she was asked if she'd like to sing and emcee all for a good cause, she knew that was the song she was going to write specially for the event. Would you, along with the audience that night, like to guess what the song is about? Here are the lyrics.

Thanks to all who came by to Earth Hour on March 28th, and even more thanks to all who turned their lights off at 8:30pm for an hour. And thanks to my lovely musicians, and all the performers that day, for their generous participation. To the organisers who made it happen from the 2.2 million Sydney residents who started it in 2007 to the kind folks at WWF and Ultrex.

And... Thank you EARTH!

Jilly has been emcee-ing for Pfingo the last two weeks. And the next week, and next month...

A product to be proud of, Jilly Is glad to share information about Pfingo and some of her silly jokes and ideas. You might have caught her at Woodlands, Raffles Place, the Heeren, Cineleisure, or most recently SMU (which she will return to on March 24th and 25th, and between the same hours of 10am to 3pm).

The next one is at Raffles Place on 4th and 5th of March, between 11am and 8pm. She hopes to see you then!

Happy New Year to everyone!

So how did you spend the last night of 2008 before ushering in the new year? Well, Jilly had a swell time ringing in the new year with the revellers at the Verandah's Hats & Caps Countdown Party at the British Club, Singapore.

As the mistress of ceremony (emcee), Jilly welcomed everyone with some warm-ups and led the children through some exciting games. However, she did not forget the adults who were such good sports as well. The best hat segments brought on a lot of cheers and laughter, especially with the adults showing off their fancy catwalks.

All the staff, including the DJ and chefs, were in delightfully good spirits as they served and danced all night. The countdown on the dance floor was unforgettably and unmistakably fabulous! Ultimately, it was a lovely delicious fun-filled night by the pool for the entire family and Jilly is grateful to have shared that experience.

Once again, Happy 2009!
